LOCAL OPTION.
POSITION IX AUCKLAND DISTRICT. [PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, vostorday. Current hotol licenses "'will expire on Wednesday next, and on that date ■ various hotel's which have failed to secure renewals of licenses ■ a-s a result of the last local option poll will close their bars. The mimhvr of hotels in the Auckland district that will he closed will be 28, of which 14 are in Ohinemuri and 4 in Eden, in both of which districts No-license was carried. , The closing of the remaining 10 hotels has been brought about by i-eduetion. -With the view of lightening the blow that is to fall- on the licensees of. the five hotels that are to be closed in- the city, the Auckland Licensed Victuallers' Association has decided to make a canvass among members with a view of collecting £1000, to be equally divided amongst the hotelkeepers affected. Up to the present' about- £700 has been subscribed for tho purpose.
