PLUNKET ACTIVITIES
HEADQUARTERS' REPORT
The report of the charge nurse, Miss H. Chapman, presented at the monthly meeting of the committee of the Plunket Society, over which the president, Mrs. R. P. Towle, presided, stated that in the pre-natal department 58 new expectant mothers had been seen, 303 return visits had been made to the department, and 284 mothers were under supervision. In the post-natal department 359 new baby cases had been seen, 1413 visits had been paid to homes, and 10,933 mothers, babies and pre-school children had attended the various offices.
Through the courtesy of the North Memorial Baptist Church, Plunket rooms have been opened at Meadowbank. Lectures on mothercraft are being given to groups of Girls' Life Brigade members. Three afternoons had been held for the wives of servicemen who are planning to leave New Zealand for homes overseas.
Miss W. M. Slater, matron of the Truby King Karitane Hospital, read the hospital report.
No official word had been received from Dunedin about a bureau for Karitane nurses, but it is reported one will be established when arrangements between the New Zealand Society and the Manpower Department have been completed.
