CIVIC THEATRE
SHAREHOLDERS' INTERESTS
PURCHASE COMPLETED
The purchase by Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., of the interests of the shareholders in Civic Theatre, Ltd., was completed to-day. The Civic Theatre was constructed in 1928 at an approximate cost of £250,000 and, since its opening it has, with the exception of a period when Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., cooperated with its management, been operated directly by Civic Theatre, Ltd.
Mr. M. J. Moodabe, governing director of Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., said to-day that his company had also acquired a lease of the Strand Theatre. Both theatres would continue to be operated directly by the Civic Theatre Co. He felt, however, that the association of both the Civic and Strand Theatres with his company's New Zealand-wide organisation would, in due course, enable the Civic Theatre Co. to improve upon the already excellent service which it had given to the public of Auckland for so many ; years past.
