NEW MILK DISTRICT

CONFERENCE ARRANGED Problems associated with the setting up of a new milk district and a newly-constituted milk authority under the Milk Act will be discussed at a conference on Friday, when local body members of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council will meet the director of the Milk Marketing Division, Mr. H. H. Innes, the secretary of the Central Milk Council, Mr. W. A. Cowell, and Mr. K. K. Montgomerie, a member of the Central Council. The proposed area and the basis of representation on the Metropolitan Milk Board are other items on the agenda paper. In a letter received at a meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council yesterday afternoon, Mr. Innes said he intended to have conferences in Auckland with the representatives of other local bodies controlling areas adjacent to the present milk district, but not now included in the area under the control of the council.

Replying to a question, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, chairman of the Milk Council, said the matter of unzoned areas would be left until the new milk district had been determined. Friday's meeting would not be open to the Press.
