CIGARETTE RATIONING
We have watched shop assistants giving out cigarettes to their friends. Last Friday . week we watched the girl behind the counter in a prominent store passing over cigarettes. After watching this going on for quite a while, we also asked for a packet each. We were told, "Sorry, no cigarettes." This has happened in several stores, also tobacconists. We ration ourselves as it is, for we thought we would be helping our boys overseas. .Now we learn from several returned men that the only cigarettes they have is what they buy themselves, when they can ' buy them, and an occasional packet in gift parcels. Where are all the cigarettes going, then? It is about time wo were given ration coupons so that everyone would get an equal f hare. TWO HOUSEWIVES.
