TRAINS COLLIDE
15 TRUCKS DERAILED ACCIDENT NEAR TUAKAU Fifteen trucks were derailed when one goods train crashed into another on the Mam Trunk railway, two miles north of Tuakau, shortly after 11 o'clock last night. Nobody was hurt. One of tlie trains left Auckland at 9 o'clock and stopped north of Tuakau to repair a burst hose. The second train, which left Auckland a quarter of an hour later, struck, the rear trucks of the first. Neither engine was derailed.
Railway communications between Auckland and Frankton were interrupted. The main train affected by the derailment was the express from Wellington, due at Auckland at 7 a.m. Passengers by the express were transferred to another train at Pukekohe, and arrived in Auckland at 8.12. Several goods trains were also delayed.
Repair gangs were sent to the scene from Tuakau and Auckland, and a mobile crane was also sent from the city.
The line was cleared shortly before one o'clock this afternoon. One of the effects of the collision was a delay in the arrival of stock at the Westfield fat stock markets.
