MALAYA TIN COMPANIES
NOW CONTROLLED IN LONDON Eight tin companies registered in Malaya, the secretaries of which is the Anglo-Oriental and General Investment Trust, propose to transfer their seats of control to London. The companies concerned are the Jelapang Tin Dredging, Kampong Lanjut Tin Dredging, Kramat Tin Dredging, Kuala Kampar Tin Fields, Kundang Tin Dredging, Larut Tin Fields, Rawang Concessions and Rawang Tin Fields, says the Financial Times. The change is as a temporary wartime measure, and control will be returned to Malaya as soon as conditions permit. In the meantime, the companies will not trade, and London Tin Corporation (which controls Anglo-Oriental and General Trust) has been informed officially that the temporary contral ot the companies in London will not involve it in United Kingdom taxation except in regard to interest received on money in the United Kingdom. When the plans have been completed it is hoped to set up some arrangement whereby shareholders outside enemy-occupied territory whose shares are registered on the Malayan register and who are in possession of relative share certificates may under suitable indemnity to the companies and if in possession of the relative share certificates be enabled to deal with their shares.
