GAY LALLY FIT HORSE
ACTIVITIES AT TE RAVA (Special) HAMILTON, this day. The flags were some 35 feet out on the course proper at Te Rapa this morning, but the programme was a restricted one, a number of horses with engagements over Christmas having already left for the various centres. Gay Lally again drew attention to his forward condition by running once round easily in 2.5 4-5. He was not bustled at any stage, and it was a good work out. Expanse and Aguilo ran seven furlongs In 1.32 1-5, Jolly Fox and Bramble Song running the first half mile of six furlongs in 53 2-ss. Foxrose ran seven In 1.35. Foxwyn and Lord Theio were associated over five furlongs in 1.7 4-5, the first half mile in 53 4-ss. Grey Salute and Sir Standfast traversed six furlongs in 1.255 and Varuna, which is bearing a healthy appearance, occupied 2.6 for a round. Raurimu hit out freely, but was not on a time-making mission to reach the six furlong peg in 1.25. Marinoto negotiated seven furlongs in 1.351. Belle Fox worked ran the inner grass at steady half pace. The injury her leg sustained when she was cast in her box still bears an ugly appearance, but is much improved. Fortunately, the tendon i was not affected, and in her recent gallops there has been no indication whatever of soreness. Jones has the daughter of Foxbridge and Belle Star looking a picture of condition, and, as recent track trials clearly demonstrate, she retains the brilliance that marked her work prior to her runaway success at the last Te Rapa meeting. Acreman (\V. Caddy) was schooled over two hurdles and shaped satisfactorily.
