PLEASE RAILWAY SUPPOIITERS The decisive defeat of Beau Vaals by Sweet Biscuit over six furlongs at Takanini this morning was convincing enough to establish her as favourite for the Railway Handicap. Galloping on the middle grass, the Broiefort filly led her rival by a length to the three furlongs post In 3o 2-ss, increasing the margin to score by five lengths in 1.13 3-s—the best effort this season over the distance. Beau Yaals' effort was below his best. Cambria was another Railway candidate to attract attention by recording a very pleasing performance to defeat Route March by several lengths over the same ground in 1.14. He came right away from his stablemate in the straight his effort indicating that he is at the top of his form. Water Vixen ran 1.16 3-5 the last five with Sousa taking 1.3, while Kittyora easily ran 1.17 3-5. Beau Dink recorded the fastest five furlongs by traversing the distance in 1.1 2-5; which was slightly better than Coronaire, which defeated Plassida by half a length in 1.1 3-5. Coronaire again gave a taste of his quality, and promises to add interest to the Foal Stakes. Yours and Mine was in front of Argovie at the end of their task in 1.3 2-5, but they were not on a timemaking mission. Good Armour and Waiting clocked 1.4 3-5. Lord Chancellor was sent a solid mile and a quarter, the pace being on all the way. He could be timed only over the last mile, 1.42, and the last six furlongs, in which he was accompanied by Representative, in 1.15 2-5. It was an excellent effort, as he covered a good deal of extra ground on the turn going out of the straight. Merry May and Foxola finished on terms at the end of a mile in 1.44, but they were not bustled over the early stages. Balfron had the measure of Royal Merit at the end of seven furlongs in 1.20, the best effort over this distance being recorded by Cornish, which defeated Jeff by a length in 1.28. Brief hit out well to complete a similar task in 1.29 2-5, Spirillum and British Patrol finishing together in 1.31. Sleepy Fox took the honours over half a mile when he defeated Laddie Boy easily in 495, while a useful effort was credited to Artificer, which shaded Gay Chat in 49 3-ss. Ballroom showed a clean pair of heels to Great Pleasure in 50 3-ss, finishing five lengths in front.
