CHRISTMAS CONTESTS
As Christmas is nearly here again, we once more invite boys and girls to enter for the Christmas competitions, and so help to make a gay little corner. New Zealand setting and atmosphere are preferred in all items, though others will, of course, be considered equally. Christmas Story:—Not more than 600 words, with a Christmas theme. Open to all readers under 18. First prize, 5/. Christmas Sketch:—This may, if liked, be an illustration for a Christmas card, though it need not be in the form of a card. Indian ink must be used. If possible make drawings no bigger than four inches square. Open to all readers under 18. First prize, 4/. Christmas Poem or Carol:—Approximately 20 lines or less. Open to all readers under 18. First prize, 3/6. Little Folks.—Christmas wishes. Write and tell us what you , would like if a Christinas fairy gave you three wishes. Would they be presents for yourself or someone else, would they be an exciting happening, or something for other boys and girls across the seas? Just tell the Christmas fairy what your three wishes would be. Open to all children under 10, though these little people may, of course, enter the other contests. Neatness and originality will be the deciding factors. First prize, 3/. All competitions close on December 11. Write on one side of the paper only—or you will be disqualified—and state your name, age and address. AH work must be original, not copied. Other items with a Christmas flavour such as hints for making presents, games, jokes and recipes will be welcomed, and may be original or copied. Point cards will be awarded for all published work.
