£5000 FOR HARBOUR BOARD
WANGANUI, Tuesday. I The Government's decision to grant a subsidy of £5000 to the Wanganui Harbour Board during the current financial year as compensation for loss of revenue arising from wartime conditions was announced by the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, in a letter before the board at its monthly meeting. The grant is being made on a basis of £2500 being paid out immediately to assist in meeting the deficit on the ordinary working account. The balance. £2500, will provide for . part of the programme of urgent • repairs at the port, and will be paid 1 out when the work is finished.
