NATIONAL SAVINGS
INCREASE IN PAST WEEK (P. A.) WELLINGTON, this'day. Last week 19 towns, including all the principal centres/ attained their national war savings quotas. This is an increase of nine on the preceding week. Seventeen out of the eighteen postal districts attained their full district quotas.
AUCKLAND WAR SAVINGS National War Savings in the Auckland district last week totalled £18,319, or £2179 above the weekly quota. Excellent results have been recorded in many centres since April 1, the outstanding achieve-, ment being Broadwood's effort in saving £452 more than its objective for the whole year. The largest amounts subscribed to date outside the city area are: Whangarei £7998, Otshuhu £2991, Waiuku £2278.
Quotas were achieved last week by Auckland City, Bombay, Broadwood, Howick, Kaikohe, Kaipara Flats, Kaukapakapa,- Kawa'kawa-, Kerikeri. Central, Kohukohu, Mangonui, Matakaha, ; Maungaturoto, Mercer, Okaihau, Paparoa, Papatoetoe, Patumahoe, Pokeno, Russell, Tuakau, Waipu, Waiuku, Warkworth, Wellsford and Whangarei.
