Penalties of £1 or £1 10/ ana costs of £1 0/6 were imposed m most cases. ' In those cases where there was any indication of wastage the penalty was heavier. In one case where a sprinkler was found running at 11 o'clock at night and the occupants were all in bed, the defendant was fined £2 10/ and costs. The position is that where an ordinary hose license is paid, the hose must be held in the hand. Where a sprinkler license is paid, there must still be somebody in attendance, and it is an offence to go out or go to bed and leave the sprinkler running.
