EGG SUPPLIES
The public will welcome the campaign for increased egg production launched by Mr. Bobby, Superintendent of Animal Husbandry. No one will wish to deny that a larger supply of eggs is desirable, if mly to provide for little children, invalids and old folk after lease-lend requirements have been met. But many a person will wonder why, in spite or these facts, the Government na3 allowed large flocks of birds to be sold up because their owners have been called into the army. Only last month flocks of 1000 and 1700 suffered this fate in Auckland. Would it not tfe wise, at a time when increased egg production is urgently necessary, when Government appeals are being made to poultrymen for increased output,_ to take the simple precaution of s ® that all poultrymen with large flocks of, say, 800 or more, are still on their farms? _ N.Z.
