SAILORS' HOME GIFTS
The Auckland Electric Power Board is to grant a concession to the Sailors' Home Council, whereby the cost of power will be reduced by about half. This was announced at yesterday's meeting of the council. The Power Board stated that the concession was being granted to all boards run on voluntary subscriptions, who were working for the armed forces. The chairman. Mr. C. J. Carrington, on behalf of the council, expressed appreciation of this generous offer. Thanks were also extended for a gift of towelling and sheeting from the Rotary Business Men's Committee. Another generous offer had been made by Sir Frank Mappin in undertaking to provide vegetables for the home free of charge.
