YOUNG MAN'S CRIME

PRISON FOR 6* YEARS

(P.A.) DUNEDIN, this day. Richard McQueen, the young naval rating who stabbed a woman taxi-driver on the night of January 7, was sentenced by Mr. Justice Kennedy this morning to reformative detention for six years and six months. His Honor said that on prisoner's own statement he had taken a sheath knife with him to intimidate the taxi driver, whether a man or a Woman. Fortunately the victim made a good recovery. "There seems neither rhyme nor reason in your action, which was one of sheer foolishness and wickedness," added his Honor.
