THE HOUSE SHORTAGE
"Auckland Builder" sets out to talk about house shortage, but why blame the Government because the local body would not give him a permit? Can your correspondent tell us how to remedy the shortage? Not, of course, with a scheme such as we had in the 20's when, under the State Housing Scheme workers saddled themselves with £800 or £900 loans, and got a home worth £400. Certain persons made a harvest, and when the depression came the worker lost his home. W. PICKERING.
