ARMY UNIT COMMITTEES

The proposed establishment of unit committees comprised of the rank and file in connection with the army educational scheme is indeed a revolutionary democratic one with such a conservative organisation as the army. Unit committees are a much neded institution in the fighting services to overcome much of the general discontent and grumbling in the ranks, as they would facilitate the men making proper representations to the authorities regarding their general welfare. Could not the organisation of these welfare committees be made a special responsibility of chaplains and Y.M.C.A. camp officers, who are in camp for welfare purposes, and it would be an opportunity to test their real worth? These welfare officers are invariably well educated men and should be ideal officials' to conduct the army educational scheme in the camps. OLD SOLDIER.
