LEAVE WITHOUT PAY
SPECIAL PAYMENTS PROPOSED
A scheme of rehabilitation payments for returned soldiers to bridge the "leave-without-pay" gap between the time that military pay ceases and a pension is granted'or employment has been found for the soldier is likely to be adopted by the Government, according to a statement made to-day by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones. The Minister said that employment could not always be found at a moment's notice, nor could pensions be granted without some delay in certain cases. Therefore, it was probable that special payments would be made to returned men to cover the period in which they received no income.
