DIVORCE SUITS

UNDEFENDED CASES

EIGHT DECREES GRANTED

Eight undefended petitions for divorce were heard in the Supreme Court to-day before Mr. Justice Fair, decrees being granted in all cases.

Desertion was the ground alleged by Margaret Neumegen (Mr. Matthews) in seeking divorce from Eric Barend Neumegen. After marriage in 1928 they lived in a house owned by respondent's father, petitioner said, but two months after the birth of the one child of the marriage the house was sold and they went to live with respondent's parents. While there the respondent did not pay anything to her,, and there was apparently some 'financial dispute between her husband and his father ovel' whether or not her husband should pay board or have it set against money due to him. This made an unpleasant and strained position, and so affected petitioner's health that she had to go to live with her mother. She awaited her husband making a home, but he showed complete indifference, and neither made a home for her nor paid her maintenance. This position had continued from 1932 to the present time. A decree nisi was granted. Also on the ground of desertion Lorna May Rawson (Mr. Moody) was granted a decree against John Sherard Rawson, who, she said, had left home in 1932 and had not since been seen by her.

"You Win," He Said Married to -Frank Raynor Goulding in December, 1940, she later became suspicious of her husband's fidelity, said Clemence Mary Goulding (Mr. Moody), and she went at night to a house where he had a room. She was accompanied by a female friend, and when they knocked for, admittance they found her husband and a woman together in night attire in his room. "You win," was his remark on recognising her. She asked, "Win what?" and he replied, "Now you've got us it doesn't matter." This evidence was corroborated by the young woman who accompanied petitioner, and a decree was granted. Separation Finalised Petitions in which decrees were granted on the ground of separation for more than three years were:— Mabel Rose Johnston (Mr. Moody) v. George Colin Johnston; Gertrude Rosina Godwin Byatt (Mr. Moody) v. Bernard Benson Byatt; Harold Leonard Ganderton (Mr. Matthews) v. Edith Ganderton (Mr. Fmlay); Marion Hazel Blythe (Mr. v. Thomas Henry Blythe; Muriel Annie Donaldson (Mr,. Fraer) v. Thomas Edward Donaldson.
