AUCKLAND TROTS

EXCELLENT FIELDS TWELVE IN NORTHERN STAKES Excellent acceptances have been received by the Auckland Trotting Club for its meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday next, when one of the attractions will be the Great Northern- Trotting Stakes, which has drawn twelve runners, including the two South Island juveniles Bel Hamed and Imperial Lady. These two youngsters recently attracted considerable attention in a parade at Addington, and, apropos, the New Zealand Trotting Calendar had this to say:— Bel Hamed, which gave a finished display for M. Holmes to win her heat, is a filly by U. Scott from Bonnie Barbara, by Jack Potts—Barbara Worth, by Rey de Oro—Logan Chimes, by Logan "Pointer— Curfew Belle, by Wildwood—Bonnie Belle, the dam of Country Belle, from which Gold Country, Escapade, Highland Scott, Scottish Lady and numerous other winners descend. Bel Hamed won over the seven furlongs at better than a 2.18 rate, and was easing up at the finish, a dozen lengths clear of the second horse, Paul Collette. Extra Special, which won the other division of the parade, is a filly by Quite Sure from Logan's Pet, and was bred by her owner, Miss J. Cuff, and is trained by R. J. Humphreys. This filly finished strongly to beat Imperial Lady, which was in front until the last few strides. Imperial Lady, by Gamble from Imperial Gold, much resembles her halfbrother Gold Bar, and she is a nice pacer.
