SERVED IN LAST WAR According to advice received, Lieu-tenant-Colonel (Temporary) S. A. McNamara, D.C.M., has been promoted to the substantive rank of lieutenant-colonel in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in the Pacific. After holding various camp appointments in New Zealand, Lieu-tenant-Colonel McNamara left for overseas as a company commander a year ago. He was later appointed, brigade major to an infantry brigade, and then to the command of a battalion. He had four years' service in the last war, having enlisted at the age of 15. For some years after the war he served on the permanent staff, and later joined the staff of the Internal Affairs Department at Rotorua. ; .
