VALUABLE TO ALLIES
WEST AFRICAN FACILITIES British Official Wireless Rec. 2 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 5. M. Bisson, Governor-General of French West Africa, said in an interview at Algiers, according to a correspondent at Allied headquarters, that the Allied navies were already using the port and facilities at Dakar. All ports and airfields in West Africa were open to the Allies, and several British vessels had made use of the docks at Dakar. He denied that the Germans ever had Dakar. He told General Giraud that 10,000 native troops Were available and the number could be trebled but for a shortage of European officers and equipment.
