MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS

REMITTANCES TO SOLDIERS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Friday. The Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, announced to-day that in spite of the previous notification that November 24 was the closing date for Christmas remittances to members of the armed forces overseas, remitters still continue to forward bank receipts to the respective departments, Base Records, Air Headquarters and the Navy Office. "The number of ordinary remittances is particularly heavy," added the Minister, "and although expeditious dispatch is being given, remitters are advised that if it is intended that members of the armed forces should receive the money for the Christmas and New Year period, bank receipts should be in the hands of Base Records, Air Headquarters and the Navy Department by Wednesday next, otherwise transmission will be delayed."
