"FRIEND AND HELPER"
SERGEANT KEALY'S WORK
An appreciative letter and Christmas card from Lady Freyberg, wife of Lieutenant-Genera! Sir Bernard Freyberg, V.C., have been received by Mrs. J. W. Kealy, of Fernglen Road, St. Helier's, whose husband, Sergeant Kealy, is assistant to Lieu-tenant-Colonel F. Waite, overseas commissioner for the National Patriotic Fund Board. At the time he enlisted for overseas service Sergeant Kealy was a lawyer and a member of the Auckland City Council.
The card which Lady Freyberg sent Mrs. Kealy contained a picture of General Freyberg taking a rest outside a tent in the desert. It was from a painting by Peter Mclntyre, well-known New Zealand artist with the Middle East Forces. Lady Freyberg said of Sergeant Kealy, "He is such a kind friend and helper to so many of us here in the club, and we do a lot of hospital visiting together He has also been doing excellent leader writing for the English papers here and he often shows me his articles, and we talk over the pos sibilities of various subjects." Lady Freyberg closes with the hope "that next year may mean home for us all."
