OBITUARY
MR. A. BAHHFORD The death has occurred of Mr. Alfred Bashford, at Waiuku, in his 102 nd year. Born in Ewell, Surrey. Mr. Bashford came to New Zealand in 1864. After spending some years in Canada, Australia and England he returned to New Zealand in 1902 and took up an orchard at Riverhead, retiring 23 years later. For some .years. Mr. Bashford had been living with his daughter in Waiuku. He married twice, and there are 53 descendants now living. Mr. Bashford enjoyed good health, and even at the age of 100 was able to say that he had never had a day's illness serious enough to keep him in bed.
