NEW ZEALANDERS IN ""BRITAIN

LONDON, May 6.
Lance - Corporal George Muir (Southland), of the Forestry Unit, and former New Zealand and Australian middle-weight champion and now heavy-weight, has won nine fights in succession, eight by medium of the knockout. He won the ninth on points from George Davies (19 stone), flooring him three times for a count of nine. Davies once fought six rounds with Camera. Muir weighs 13st 61b.
Flight-Lieutenant T. B. Fitzgerald, D.F.C., of Temuka, has been promoted squadron-leader. He is now a test pilot for Hawker Hurricanes and Typhoons. He fought in the Battles of France and Britain, then flew Hurricane bombers and Spitfires. He shot down two Messerschmitts 109 last autumn.
B. J. Warring, of Wellington, has been promoted sub-lieutenant, R.N.Z.N.V.R.
Squadron-Leader Alan Deere, D.F.C. and bar, of Wanganui, has returned from the United States, where he visited Air Corps aerodromes. He is now leading a squadron of Spitfires.
A draft of 30 men for air crews, led by Pilot-Officer J. G. Duffill, Hawera, recently arrived in England after an uneventful voyage.
