In United States
EVERY OUNCE NEEDED
Rec. 2 p.m WASHINGTON, May, 6?
• Senator Reynolds, chairman of the Senate Military Commitee, in a Press interview, quoted the testimony of several Government officials in closed session as saying that the lack of rubber had become perilous from a military standpoint. He predicted that the Government would be forced to take over every ounce of rubber not used for essential purposes.
Senator Austin said that no new rubber would be available for civilian purposes for a year. Seven highranking officials urged the committee to approve legislation authorising the requisitioning of automobiles ana tyres.
Senator Reynolds said that people with more than five tyres per car would be compelled to transfer them to the Government.
