TOBACCO FOR TROOPS

NEW ARRANGEMENT MADE

According to a statement made by the National Patriotic Fund Board, Mr. G. A. Hayden, it is now possible for relatives to send parcels of cigarettes and tobacco at reduced nriccs to individual members of the New Zealand Forces in the Middle Hast. This concession applies only to cigarettes and tobacco sent through the board. If it is sent in parcels in the ordinary way. the recipient will still be rendered liable for customs duty in Egypt. Mr. Hayden also said that the special forms for ordering the tobacco, which had been already issued to tobacconists and other stores, would also be available for those wishing to place orders for men in the Middle East. The boartl attended to the packing and dispatch. There was a range of six brands of cigarettes, eight of cigarette tobacco and seven of pipe tobacco. Including postage, the prices charged represented reductions on the ordinary prices of approximately five shillings on 200 cigarettes and nine shillings on one pound of tobacco.
