BROADCASTING

MINISTER IN UPPER HOUSE

(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The fact that the Minister in Charge of Broadcasting (Mr. Wilson) was a member of the Legislative Council was criticised by Mr. Broadfoot (National, Waltomo) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon during consideration of the broadcasting Estimates. Mr. Broadfoot said ..that the broadcasting services were an important branch of the public service and it was most unfortunate that the Minister in Charge of Broadcasting was not in the House. The acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Nash (who was in charge of the Estimates): He is here in the chair. Mr. Broadfoot: No. the deputv Minister is. The real Minister in Charge who would have had all the facts at his fingertips is not in this House. I remember how some vears ago we used to be attacked when we had a Minister in the Upper House. The Labour party to-dav are not practising what they preached.
