VITAL MATCH IN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
VERDUN SCOTT TO PLAY FOR SHORE
Leading teams in the championship, Richmond and North Shore, will provide the main attraction at Carlaw Park tomorrow. The match will have a decided bearing on the season's honours as Richmond is the joint leader with Manukau with Shore only a point behind, but Shore has played one match less. The ground is likely to be heavy and the forward play may decide the issue. Shore has a strong pack and the heavy going may favour them. Richmond, 011 the other hand, has line team combination, with brilliant backs. To-morrow ishore will have the services of Verdun Scott, at centre three-quarter, as he is on leave from the army. One chance in the Richmond pack will be the replacing of Craig by Hilton. The curtain-raiser will be between Ponsonby and Mount Albert. On No. 2 ground Marist meet Newton, while Papakura has a tough proposition in City. The Btate of the championship ladder is:— Points ch. P. W. L. D. P. A. Pts.
