MANY CHANGES IN ARMY RUGBY TEAM AGAINST TAKAPUNA
Meeting Takapuna in the match which will decide whether it will win its section of Vhe Auckland Rugby championship Army, to-morrow, will be fielding quite a lot of new players in its pack—and with the ground sure to l>c heavy the forwards may be the dominating feature of the game. In the backs Army has also had difficulty in finding a strong combination, as Perriam, the centre, is not available; neither is Coughlan. D. Brady has been selected as centre, with Schubert and McInnarney outside him. Warner will be tihe full-back, and Reid and Bilkie the fiveeighths, with Mnfs (Hawke's Bayl at half. The forwards are esi>ec!ed to be Hubbarb, C'orkill, Massey, McCormick, Coxliead, Leckie, Farquharson and Harper.
Takapuna, which led Army by two poinus in the firt-i rougd, is always likely to cause an upset. It cxpect6 to have a new five-eighth to-morrow in L. C. Sanders, who was a King Country representative in 1935. W. R. Briiisden will fill the inside position, having relinquished the half-back job to D. Smith. The latrar has played for Ponsonby juniors for the past couple of seasons. He made his debut with Takapuna last week and shaped quite well against Grammar.
Grammar meets OtaJiuhu at Sturpae Park: should it win and Army be defeared, then Grammar will win tlie section.
The curtain-raiser at Eden Park will be •between the two leading teams in the second section, Manukau and Ponsonbv. Succoss for Ponsonby will mean a play-off.
