Advice has been received by Mr. J. Simpson, of Heme Bay, that his son Private John Simpson was killed in action on May 22. Born in Scotland 22 years ago, he came to New Zealand at the age of six and was educated at the Grey Lynn School. He arrived in Egypt with reinforcements and was posted to the 18th Auckland Battalion, with which he saw service in Greece. Private Simpson was a popular and activc member of the Point Chevalier Sailing Club.
