UNIVERSITY STAFF
TWO MEMBERS COMPLIMENTED
The Auckland University College Council yesterday took co.crnisanc-e of distinction conferred upon two members of its staff, Professor 11. S Forder and Dr. L. H. Briggs.
Professor Forder forwarded to the council a copy of a new. original treatise in mathematics, accepted and published by the Cambridge I niversity Press. It represented almost a lifetime of work. In moving a resolution expressing the council's appreciation, the president. Mr. \Y. 11. Cocker, said he was assured by those competent to express an opinion that Professor Forder\s work was a real and original contribution to mathematical thought.
The council also congratulated Dr.! Bi iges on the doctorate o*. sc : ence l (Conferred upon him by the Univer-' sit >" °f Zealand, in recoirn tion ! ii I} 1 * work in the extraction of i alkaloids and mineral oils from N'ew Zeaiand native plants. .Mr-.
