NEW ARMY POST
Officer Commanding Home Defence Force AUSTRALIAN DECISIOX Rec. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, this day. The War Cabinet has decided 10 appoint a general officer commanding all military forces in Australia. The "Sydney Morning Herald'' savs the decision is regarded as a most significant signpost to the eventualities for which Australia now has to prepare herself. The officer chosen wili be charged with the defence of Australia by land. He will work in the held and have command in anv emergencies that may arise within Australia as the war proceeds. He is to have under his control the Home Defence Army of about 250.000 men.
