Half-Yearly Age Groups In Britain ISTUDENTS SPECIAL CLASSES Rec. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY, May 9. In the hope of avoiding calling ud youths under 19. the Ministry of Labour and National Service has decided to register men by halfyearly classes as thev become 19 r h V^s' ouths born in th e first half of 1922 and becoming 19 in the first half of 1941 will be registered in or soon after July, 1941. Those becoming 19 in the second half of 1941 will be registered in or soon after January, 1942, and so on. For those born in 1923 the policv naturally is subject to change at anv moment to meet the exigencies of the war. As regards students over 19 at the universities and other places of higher education, those now reserved will continue to be reserved provided they make satisfactorv progress in their studies and become members of a senior training corps or of an air training corps. Exemption from the latter requirements are granted in certain exceptional circumstances. Arrangements are being made to defer the calling up of apprentices in essential trades until the completion of their apprenticeship, or alternatively until thev turn 20.
