OLD AUCKLAND SCHOOL
PICTORIAL HISTORY GIFT.
Comprised of photographs and descriptive matter, which have been mounted in a single large glass frame, a pictorial history of the former Church of England Grammar School, Parnell, has been presented to the Old Colonists' Museum by Mr. .1. D. Richardson and Mr. C. J. O'Keefe. These two Auckland residents, in co-operation with the late Mr. Harry Kinder, presented a similar gift to King's College a short time ago. The Church of England Grammar School was opened in a house in Karangahape Road in November, 1855, with the Rev. John Kinder. M.A., as headmaster. A year later it was transferred to a building at the corner of Parnell and Ayr Streets and was closed in 1893 after 38 years' of service. The display consists of photographic copies, made by Mr. Richardson, of old drawings, photographs and advertisements relating to the school, with descriptive letterpress.
