"It is my dearest Avish to raise a.n army to fight in Libya or anywhere in Africa," said Emperor Haile Silassie, in an interview 100 miles from the capital.

After expressing liis gratitude for Britain's aid he said: "I need British help to form and equip a regular array for the future defence of my country. I realise that everything depends upon Britain winning the war. I hope to enter Addis Ababa shortly."

South African aircraft carried out another successful raid 011 the aerodrome at Komboleha, in Abyssinia, says an R.A.F. Middle East communique quoted by British official wireless. Two enemy bombers were burnt out and several other fighter and bomber aircraft were damaged in an Attack which also caused several explosions.

During the night of April 12 and 13 enemy fighters and bombers flew over Malta and a number of bombs were dropped without causing serious damage. One Messerschmitt 109 was shot down by an R.A.F. fighter, which was itself subsequently shot down, but the pilot is safe.
