AUCKLAND DRAINAGE.
AUTHORITY TO BORROW.
ADDITIONAL SUM DESIRED.
(By Telegraph—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board is given authority to borrow up to a total of £650,000 instead of £000,000, under the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Amendme.nt Bill which Mr. Anderton (Govt., Eden) asked leave to introduce in the House of Representatives yesterday.
The bill seeks to authorise expressly and to validate the spending of money in connection with the maintenance and operation of drainage works for the benefit of any areas within or adjacent to the board's district. Power is also sought for further borrowing in connection with the investigation of the proposed metropolitan sewerage and stormwater drainage scheme.
