GRANTING OF LEAVE.
M.P.'S WITH THE FORCES.
NEW PROCEDURE PROPOSED.
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. W. E. Barnard, is to investigate the Standing Orders with a view to simplifying arrangements for the granting of leave of absence to members of Parliament serving with the Forces.
So far such members have been granted leave from time to time. This morning when leave of absence was asked for Lieutenant Hultquist, Mr. Coates rose and suggested that members with the Forces should be granted leave without the necessity for repeated requests in the House. The Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, said the suggestion was a good one, and he a?ked Mr. Speaker if he would go into the question and see what could be done. "I will be very pleased to do so," Mr. Speaker replied.
