CAPABLE Jf AVAL OFFICER. (By Telegraph.Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Captain John Duller Edward Hall, R.N., commanding H.M.S. Princess Victoria, who was reported missing following the destruction of that ship by a mine, commanded the sloop Wellington when she relieved the Laburnum in New Zealand waters in 1935. On his return home be was given command of the cruiser Dunedin, employed as a seagoing training .ship for boys, and -was promoted to captain's rank in June, 1038. This officer was a well-known specialist in physical training and did much to promote the welfare of officers and men. He was keenly interested in all forma of recreation, an official referee for both Rugby, and . Association football, and a life member of the R.N. and R.M. Cricket Club. Captain Hall's death on active service at the age of 44 (says "The Times") deprives .the Navy of a most capable and zealous officer and a good sportsman and comrade.
