HOCKEY TOURNEY.
ANOTHER COUNTRY WEEK.
PIAXO WILL DEFEND CUP. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND ON MONDAY. The Auckland Hockey Association's country week tournament for the White Horse Cup starts on Monday afternoon, when eight teams will take part in.the first round —in which by the luck of the draw the 1939 winner Piako meets the runnerup Rodney A. The other contests at Remuera on the opening day are:—Walpa v. Franklin, Thames r. Rodney B, and Whangarei A v. B. The programme for the remainder of the week is:—Tneedny, second arid third rounds; Wednesday afternoon, fourth round; Thursday, flfth and sixth rounds; Friday afternoon, final; Saturday afternoon, Country A representatives V. Auckland, Country B v. Auckland junior. XI. The women's tournament will also he in progress next week, the matches being arranged for. Melville Park, Epsom; W.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP. WOMEN'S MEETING HERE AUGUST. (By Telegraph:—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The New Zealand Women's Sockey Association decided to-night that tbe 1040 Dominion championship be Riven to Auckland. The tournament will probably start on Saturday', "August 24. to coincide with the spring'' school vacation-. The closing date for entries from the affiliated associations Iβ July 27.
