HELPING FINLAND.

SALVATION ARMY. I Along with their constant warm praise of Finland, people have been talking of the wonderful work of the Salvation Army in that country which has been going on for over half a century. In all the Army has 300 centres in Finland, and it was only last year that it opened in Helinski n beautiful building of seven storeys as a social centre. It comprises a settlement for people from slum areas, hostels, a home for children and another for mothers. Bombs have destroyed the house of the Army's chief secretary in Finland, and he was himself injured by splintered glass from his. windows. Headquarters have been moved temporarily to Vasa, where Russian air attacks have killed one woman officer and gravely wounded three others. These splendid women are busy distributing food and clothing from over 70 Finnish centres, their colleagues in Northern Sweden being similarly engaged among refugees who ahvc crossed the frontier. Near the Russian border the women or the Army have stayed at their posts until the retreating Finnish soldiers have Bet the villages on fire, when the Army lasses have accompanied the people in their evacuation.
