GRATEFUL OFFICERS.
PRESENTATION BT IXANOER. A presentation of a framed engraving of the first Ear! of Auckland has been made to tlie city of Auckland bv the officers of H.M.S. Leander. In sending the Mayor the engraving, together with clippings from the "Illustrated London News - * of 1849 dealing with the death of the Karl. Lieutenant John F. Thompson, wardroom mess secretary of the Leander. stated that the presentation was. made in recognition of the warmhearted hospitality extended to the ship during her time on the New Zealand station, and particularly in the port of Auckland.
