BRIGHT CRICKET.

COUNTRY WEEK.

Provincial Teams — Rodney

Partnership.

j Here was 'brig-lit play at the Auckland : Domain cricket ground to-day, wiien the provincial country week tournament was ! advanced a further stage. The feature of the morning play was a lively opening partnership by Rodney against Waihi, in which the veteran W. Dunning and the colt R. Dunning took part. W. Dunning showed restraint, coupled with sound srroke play, and R. Dunning was brilliant, getting to the pitch of the 'ball, and driving with sureness and freedom. The partnership put on 124 runs, R. Dunning being splendidly caught by Davies at deep square leg, the fieldsman being just inside the line. From that point the Rodney batting fell away. Thames made 102 runs in their venture against Rangitaiki. A feature of the Rangitaiki bowling was good work by Morgan, who took four wickets for nine runs and did the 'hat trick. Playing against Auckland, Hamilton had five wickets down for 48 runs at lunch, this match being delayed by rain. Waipa made a strong opening against Pukekohe, and there was some resolute batting by J. Larsen. The lunch score was 100 runs for the loss of one wicket.
