NO DECLINE YET.
BUILDING IK WHANGAKEI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WIIANGARKI, this day. Whangarei building activity has so far shown no appreciable decline since the declaration of war. Work on the erection of the Supreme Court, the largest building at present under way in WlMiigarei, is at a standstill, however. The construction of the basement and strongrooms has been completed by the Public Works Department, and tenders were called some months ago for the completiofi of the building, but so far no tender has been accepted. The building is estimated to cost in the vicinity of £50,000.
Normal progress is being made with tho work on State houses. Forty-seven houses have b#en completed and eight more have reached tho finishing stage. Of the additional 20 that arc to be erected 10 are under construction and a start Is to be made with the other 10 as noon as work on those now being built has made further progress.
