SETTLERS' LOAN APPEAL.

HAMILTON, Friday
Advice that the appeal by settlers in the Woodlands district for remission of loan liability could not be granted was received at a meeting of the Taupiri Drainage and Kiver Board from the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash. In his letter the Minister stated that the drains were still serving a useful purpose, and. moreover, to remit the liability would be to establish a dangerous precedent.
