SUICIDE VERDICT.
N.Z. High Commissioner Gives
Evidence At Inquest.
DEATH OF "ROBIN HYDE."

The Xew Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. \Y. J. Jordan, giving evidence at the inquest on the Dominion novelist,
"Robin Hyde," Miss Iris Wilkinson, said that in response to a telephone call he visited her flat on Monday. She was in bed and was crying. She was a cripple and her health had been bad for a considerable time.
He endeavoured to persuade her to return to Xew Zealand but she seemed concerned over financial arrangements for a new play. He lent her money and his daughter bought provisions. He learned after lier death that she had £23 to her credit in 'the bank.
The coroner remarked that poverty seemed a delusion with her.
Mr. Jordan said: "She did not tell mo she "was in need, but seemed so poorly I did not like to question -her." A verdict of suicide was returned.
