NEW LYNN BOROUGH.

J The Municipal Association advised the New Lynn Borough Council last evening that the Department of Internal Affairs was preparing a scheme covering national emergency precaution work for the guidance, of local authorities and any other plan received would be regarded as unauthorised. Any local authority wishing to proceed immediately could get, the necenßury information fioin the .Department of Internal Affairs. Sewer Extension.—The Commissioner of Crown Lands asked the council to provide estimates of the cost of extending the sewer to a further section on the corner of I'Yuitvale and Great Xorth Koads so that the whole area could be subdivided. The council agreed to secure quotations and adapted the town clerk's suggestion that to facilitate the subdivision the council would accept £18 on the sale of each section as a contribution towards roading costs, provided the majority of sections were sold on the existing road frontages first. It was stated that owing to the fact that the land was unoccupied the council was losing £41 per annum in rates. Bollard Estate—At the request of the council the borough town planning officer, Mr. E. Blake, submitted a report on the subdivision of Bollard's estate to provide for building sections, a .playground reserve, direct road access to the shopping area and an area of approximately five acres for the use of the Golf Club. As the area was not suitable for the cluh, the subdivision was referred back to Mr. Blake to confer with the club. Town Planning Provisions. —Because numerous people were unaware that the i town planning provisions over-ride the I by-laws the council decided that this fact be brought to the attention of all people who apply for building permits. Storm water Drainage.—The report of the borough engineer for the improvement of the storm water drainage from properties in the vicinity of Kowhai Street at, a cost of £50 was approved. His recommendation for improvements to the roads and footpaths in Reed Road to give access to Government houses was approved.
