PAPAKURA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Evans, presiding. 100 Miles Cycle Race.—Permission wa* granted the Auckland Centre of the NewZealand Amateur Cycling Association to I conduct their annual 100 miles Auckland ; provincial amateur championship cycle I road race on Saturday. October 7, over a course extending from Chapel Street, Papakura. to and back, finishing at Beach Road, Papakura. Drainage and Refuse Collection.—The subject, of suitable drainage for the borough .mil a regular rubbish collection was raised in a letter from a ratepayer, who stated that the health and progress] of the town vrvm being retarded by the absence of those necessary amenities. With regard to the refuse collections it was decided to reply that the matter would be given consideration. Art Union Profits.—Part of the "Lucky Charm" art union for the relief of distress was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs, and handed to the Papakura Social Welfare League. Traffic; Inspector"* Report.—The inspec-1 tor advifed that the conduct of motorists in the borough had been «ood last month, only one accident occurring. He recommended a municipal parking site to relieve congestion on the streets. The matter of a parking area was deferred in the meantime. It was decided to drier further .-onsideration on the matter until a reply had been received from the Minister of Health', who had been a«ked by the council to give his permission for the road to go through.
